Lamont Gallery exhibits contemporary British and International fine art. The collection covers painting and sculpture. Lamont Gallery shows artists with a high degree of skill who are interested in creating beautiful objects which are emotionally charged and intellectually informed. The emphasis is on representation, whether figurative or landscape, however much of the image is abstracted.
Opened by Andrew Lamont in 1985, Lamont Gallery was the first commercial gallery in the East End of London. Pioneering a move away from an art market dominated by Cork Street and the West End, with a keen eye for new and underrated talent, he opened a gallery on Bethnal Green's Roman Road. Then, later expanding it to an adjoining pub. This adventurous location was selected because the East End had attracted more artists than any equivalent area in Western Europe - a circumstance that still applies.
In 2000, Lamont reopened at a new premises in Holland Park, The Organ Factory.
