Before the Renovation
1998
The search began for a building which could serve many functions. It was to accommodate Lamont Gallery, Lamont Interiors and home as well as being convenient for clients.

October 1999
Andrew was told of a disused factory in Holland Park at a private view. At a chance viewing of this derelict property the Lamonts could envisage amazing potential for their requirements but soon learned of the complex planning restrictions involved.

Proposed Plan and Start of the build
Early November 1999
The survey by the Lamont's architect, Malcolm Pawley, confirmed the structure to be sound. The offer was proposed and accepted.

Late 1999-2000
The Lamonts proceeded to plan the internal spaces over the next five weeks to include a mezzanine in the gallery, an office, a four bedroom home, and with the intention to add a double height conservatory at the side of the property. While the architect interpreted these plans into the structural drawings, both a contractor and structural engineer were appointed. Following legal completion on 6th February 2000 structural works began inclusive of extensive strapping and reinforced beams tying the brickwork together to fortify the perimeter walls. Phase I continued through the Spring with block work and floor joists carving out the spaces.

The Finished Exterior
July 2000
The Lamonts moved in to secure the buildings contents while facilities were in their most rudimentary state.
